Colours: This magazine has a consistent blue and white colour scheme, which reflects the film it is advertising - 'Avatar'. The consistency of the colour scheme gives the cover an element of professionalism. There are many shades of blue which gives the page some variety and the bright shades of blue make the page look vibrant and colourful.
Title: The words 'TOTAL FILM' is makes it very clear to viewers about what the magazine is about. It is also very large, bold and takes up about 1/4 of the page. This makes it stand out and is the thing that is read first. The 'I' and 'L' part of the title is hidden by the main image, making the image fully visible and the main source of attraction. This means that although the title is very clear and readable, the image still gets a reasonable amount of attention. The word 'TOTAL' is in asmaller font in the F of the 'FILM', which means the word 'FILM' is exaggerated as it is much larger, therefore readers can see that the word 'film' is the more important part of the title.
Images: The picture of the main character from the film 'avatar' is very large, meaning that it stands out on the page and catches viewers attention very easily, especially as it is so abstract. The background of the poster resembles a sky/clouds which also makes the cover look more interesting. This gives viewers the impression that the magazine is interesting to read and about an imaginative film, which can increase its success.
Text: The largest pieces of text on the page are 'AVATAR' and 'WALL STRET 2-THE BOX- THE A TEAM' Interestingly, these are all the names of films. This shows that one of the ways that they attract their target audience is by advertising popular films, demonstrating to readers straight away that this is what the magazines focus is on. Also, people who like or know these advertised films will be more likely to be interested in the magazine at a glance as the words are very large on the page and can be noticed first-thing. There are also other pieces of smaller, less bold text which is written in grey. These are usually words to show in more detail what the magazine has to offer, e.g 'meet the really funny animals', 'how long will we feel the force of James Camerons' sci-fi- epic?' Overall this means that the text in larger font, such as titles of films, capture a viewer's attention, and the smaller pieces of text which are more persuasive are seen after they pick it up to see what it has to offer. This is a really good technique in capturing and maintaining the audiences attention so that the persuasive writing techniques used can have effect.

Colours: This poster has a consistent blue, white, grey and black colour scheme. Although this is different from the vibrant different shades of blue in the 'FILM' poster, it still has a very professional and attractive look to audiences. The use of blue gives the cover a bit of colour, whilst the black, white and grey give it an element of darkness. This could reflect on the genre it is representing. Also, the brightness of the blue on rather bleak colours mean that the editor has been able to posess more control over what viewers subconciously choose to see first.
Title: Interestingly, the title is placed behind the image in a very large, clear, bold font just like in 'TOTAL FILM'. This shows that this is a method used by many magazine editors and is very effective. However, the 'F' that is originally in the magazine's title has been covered up by part of the main image, which shows that the magazine must be popular enough to still be recognised with an altered name. This demonstrates that perhaps this use of layering pictures and titles is only limited to very well known magazines. The contents of this magazine cover is also quite clear through the title 'FILM FARE', which helps to tell people what it is about without them having to look at anything else.
Images: The main image of the magazine is of an actor sitting on a stool of some kind. It has been edited in black and white to match the colour scheme of the rest of the cover, making it look more professional.. He is making eye contact with the reader as well as posing, which means that the viewer feels connected with him which is very effective in catching their attention. The man is wearing a smart suit, which reinforces the professional feel of the poster. He also has a rather pensive facial expression, creating a sense of mystery and curiosity about him for readers.
Text: Most of page is written in a clear, sans serif, bold font giving the text a very smooth look. Aside from the title, the largest piece of text on the magazine cover is the words 'THE LION KING', making it one of the most noticeable. This means the readers eyes are immediately brought to these words and as a result are directed to the ones under it which explain its meaning: 'Ajay Devgn on the sweet smell of super success'. Interestingly, there are a lot of actors/celebrities mentioned, e.g 'Sonakshi', 'Aamir Khan', etc. This shows that the film magazine is centred around bollywood films due to the names mentioned as well as attracting people to the magazine who are fans of/know these celebrities. Also, most of the names, bar one, are written in blue font, whilst the explanations and offers are written in mostly black. This means that the names of the actors stick out more and are seen first in order to catch the viewers attention.

Colours: This magazine cover has the same colour scheme as the 'FILM FARE' magazine analysed previously; blue, black, white and grey, however if it used in a different way by the editor. Instead of using the colours to emphasise a word or direct readers to what to read first, he/she has used the colour in conjunction with the other colours to create variety and more lively a poster. Alternating colours for the text makes the list of actors and actresses easier on the eye and less daunting to read.
Title: The title, 'Premiere', isn't as clear as the words in the other magazine covers in giving away what the magazine is about, however the word 'premiere' is usually assoicated with film and the other parts of the magazine show this. Also, unlike other magazine covers, the title is placed on top of the picture rather than under it, which means that there is no 'lost letter' effect like there has in been the past two posters. This shows that this magazine is probably less popular and so the whole title needs to be seen. The title itself is written in a blue font, which is the brightest colour on the page, which means this as well as its size help to draw attention to it straight away. The font is also a 'serif' font, which gives it a more traditional, classy look as opposed to a more modern smooth look that is used in the other magazine covers.
Image: The main image is of a close up shot of the actor from 'Spider Man 3' He is looking straight into the camera, making eye contact with the reader, which engages them from a first glance. The fact that an actor is used means that people may even recognise him and feel inclined to read the rest of the cover to see what it is saying about him. The man has a very serious look on his face, which helps to imply that the magazine is very serious and adult, as well as giving us an impression of the genre of the film that he is representing. He is also wearing attire that looks like a spiders web with a spider on it, further showing readers who are looking from a glance what film the magazine is going to talk about, as well as making the whole cover look more interesting to viewers.
